1. A Global Alliance of Business Schools: ESSEC, Fudan, Keio, Mannheim and Tuck Unite to Create the First Council on Business and Society
Mannheim is partnering with ESSEC Business School, Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth (United States), School of Management, Fudan University (China) and Keio Business School (Japan) to create the first Council on Business and Society. The new alliance will use a multi-cultural, multi-school approach to engage academics, policy-makers and corporate leaders in addressing key issues at the intersection of business and society.

Among others, the Council will create a multi-school process to study a series of critical issues facing business and society and organize an annual international forum for dialogue. The inaugural forum will be held in Paris in the fall of 2012 and will focus on "Corporate Governance and Leadership". Subsequent forums will be organized by partner schools on a rotating basis.

2. Mannheim Business Forum and MBS Summer Party
On July 22, nearly two hundred participants, alumni, MBS staff and friends came to attend this year's 3rd Mannheim Business Forum conference and the 2nd annual MBS Summer Party, generously sponsored by Saint-Gobain Building Distribution Deutschland GmbH. Guests started arriving as early as 6 pm in order to hear Udo H. Brandt, Chairman of the Management Board, Saint-Gobain Building Distribution Deutschland GmbH, discuss  management challenges of large network organizations.
Cold drinks, a delicious buffet and dance music provided the backdrop to the informal part of the evening, providing plenty of opportunity to catch up with Mannheimers old and new.

We are pleased to announce that the next Mannheim Business Forum conference is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 16, 2011. Dr. Jürgen Scherer, Group Vice President, Corporate Purchasing & Supply Chain Services, Cognis GmbH - now part of BASF, will elaborate on "B2B - learnings from a buying and from a selling perspective".

The event will take place at the MBS Lecture Hall at Mannheim Castle, starting at 7 pm. Current students please register under iConn/events. If you are not currently enrolled at Mannheim Business School, but wish to attend, please contact the Career Services Team at Careerservices@mannheim-business-school.com or via phone at 00 49 (0) 621 181 1972 by September 5 at the latest.
