The first Women's Forum (extract from Air France Magazine - September 05)
How do women view the social and economic change underway in the world? What are the differences in the way men and women in power work? How will the increasing role of women in the economies and societies of developed and emerging countries impact our world? These are among the themes that will be discussed during the first Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society. Eighty international speakers, including the singer Barbara Hendricks; Irene Khan, Secretary General of Amnesty International; Gérard Mestrallet, CEO of the Suez Group; Simone Veil, former French Minister of State; and Muhammad Yunus, who invented the concept of micro-credit, are participating in this forum that will bring together 500 men and women from around the world – leaders in economic, political, cultural and scientific fields. To coordinate this project, Aude de Thuin, founder and director of the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society, put together a team of high-profile women from five continents. French women on this team include Patricia Barbizet, Mercedes Erra, Anne Lauvergeon, Laurence Parisot and Véronique Morali. This forum is supported by some 20 companies, including Air France, Alcoa, Cartier, EADS, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Sanofi-Aventis, reflecting their commitment diversity in the business world.
