Conference Speakers:
Dr. Manfred Fuchs, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Fuchs Petrolub AG
Dr. Claus Buhleier, Partner Deloitte & Touche GmbH
Small and medium-sized enterprises, often called the backbone of the German economy, make up more than 99% of the nation's companies. They are employer to about 70% of the nation's employed workforce and provide more than 80 % of all trainee and apprenticeship positions. Also, more than 95 % of these small and medium-sized enterprises are family-owned, often possessing a very unique corporate culture – a culture that focuses more on sustainable development and is less driven by short-term profit-seeking.
Mannheim Business School has invited Dr. Manfred Fuchs to discuss the special culture of his family-owned business and to share his experience as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Fuchs Petrolub AG with the audience. Dr. Claus Buhleier, Partner Deloitte & Touche GmbH, will address the topic from a more empirical perspective and present best practice examples from Deloitte's Axia Award - an annual award that recognizes the achievements of innovative German SMEs.
The conference will be moderated by Dr. Marcel Crisand, Managing Director of the Center for SME research at the University of Mannheim.
