Congratulations to the PARIS WE CLASS 2009 for the success of their CLASS PROJECT "RACE FOR LIFE"!

The 2009 class of the Executive MBA Essec-Mannheim WE in partnership with the French National Blood Service -(Etablissement Français du Sang Ile-de-France), organized the 21st of June a Karting competition with a blood donor session on the spot at B'Kart Indoor (Universal Circuits) in MAUREPAS. For Olivier Rousseau, from the steering committee "2009 is the year of the gift of life. Giving blood is a gesture of solidarity that enables the treatment of the sick and the saving of lives. For any people, giving blood is not at all second nature; indeed it seems pretty scary. I therefore wanted to organize an event in order to encourage people to give blood in a friendly, relaxed family atmosphere. Giving blood is more than giving money to a good cause, it entails a certain implication; it means giving a part of oneself. With the Race for Life, we communicated about giving blood in parallel to fun activities."

Giving blood is a generous and essential act that helps to ensure life-saving treatment for 1 million patients every year. 9500 blood donations are necessary every day in France.

This project was a real success, over 150 people came to the event, 33 of whom were able to give their blood and save lives. 32% of those people were new donors. In addition, 18 people became organ donors and 3 signed up for the bone marrow donation. Many more people showed an interest in giving blood, plasma or red blood cells at a later date. The French National Blood Service was particularly pleased by the high percentage of first-time blood donors.

Fun activities for the spouses and children of the participants were also proposed such as Kid's Kart (> 7 years), Mini-golf, Indoor Soccer, Circuit 24, Snooker, ... for a very friendly moment.

In addition, the class of 2009 made a donation to actioncarbone.org*, in order to compensate for the carbon footprint of the fuel used during the day (car trips to get to the karting circuit and the karts themselves).
