"The Executive Master of Accounting & Taxation is setting the standards: Mannheim is unrivaled in its ability to deliver practice-oriented taxation education together with a sound theory base. The international outlook goes without saying. It has been at the heart of taxation education at Mannheim for decades."
Dr. Bernd Erle (Deputy Spokesman of the Executive Board, KPMG Deutsche Treuhand-Gesellschaft AG)
To document and keep track of your progress, you will undergo academic assessment throughout the program. This takes the form of class tests, group work, individual projects, presentations and oral exams. Alongside these, the program includes the following key components:
- Term papers
As part of your specialization within your chosen track, you will produce an academic term paper relating to issues with practical relevance. You will present your findings at a plenary session and participate in a discussion on them. An example of a term paper topic is "The consequences of the 2008 tax reforms on business practice". - Master's thesis
Towards the end of your studies, you and your fellow students will have the chance to demonstrate what you have learned: in your master's thesis you will apply your entire know-how to address a topical practical issue using a scholarly approach. You will have twelve months to write your master's thesis. You will be assisted by representatives from the field as well as tutors. As part of the thesis, you will give a presentation which will lead to a discussion before an examination board consisting of professors, representatives from the field and alumni.
