This program focuses on operations management and will introduce you to the design, planning and control of the processes that create and deliver the firm's products and services. Operations are thus one of the primary functions of a firm.

This open MBA program will enable you to look beyond the boundaries of the firm when making decisions and to coordinate them along the supply chain, thus substantially improving your firm's operations.

Please note: this course, referred to as an "Open MBA program" is also open to participants of our world-renowned full-time MBA program.

This intensive 5-day open MBA program provides hands-on tools and an introduction to concepts and methods that are useful in understanding the management of a firm's operations:

  • Capacity management, process design, management of throughput times, inventory management.
  • Emphasis of the supply chain dimension of operations management.
  • Supply chain planning and supply chain coordination.
  • Analytical tools that help analyze the above issues, notably mathematical optimization and simulation.

The core part of this program is based on case discussions, which the participants are encouraged to prepare before the start of the program (program material will be provided in advance). The discussions are complemented by introductions of analytical tools and by simulation games that allow the participants to explore and apply the concepts discussed in class.
The program includes an examination.

Required Reading:

Participants will be provided with program material before the start of the program. We strongly recommend reading the material and preparing beforehand in order to ensure maximum benefit from the program.

Prof. Dr. Moritz Fleischmann

Professor Fleischmann currently holds the Chair of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Mannheim. His areas of research include E-fulfilment, Dynamic Pricing & Revenue Management, Marketing/Operations Interface, Closed-Loop Supply Chains & Reverse Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and he has made numerous publications e.g. in the European Journal of Operational Research and Production and Operations Management. Besides, he published several books. Moritz Fleischmann is also Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.
