The result is clear: according to HR executives at German companies, they prefer to employ University of Mannheim business graduates. Forty point two percent of 540 HR executives surveyed by the WirtschaftsWoche stated that Mannheim graduates are very well trained and prepared for professional life. Thus, Mannheim is ranked 1st in Germany, far ahead of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (2nd with 21.4 percent) and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (3rd with 19.8 percent).
The WirtschaftsWoche ranking is published annually. The surveyed recruiters pay particular attention to candidates’ personality and work experience when sorting through applications. Equally important are the type of university degree, the final grade as well as a good knowledge of English.
Mannheim graduates can also score additional points with this feature of the business bachelor’s program: overseas experience is compulsory in the fifth semester. Moreover, 50% of the lectures in the business bachelor’s program and almost 90% of those in the master’s program are already held in English. The work practice aspect too is not neglected in the University of Mannheim’s business degree: companies offering students internship and entry opportunities are regular guests on campus. Students also take advantage of these opportunities: the vast majority gain work experience through local and foreign internships.
